Downtown Mesa Main Street Restaurant Openings Bring New Jobs
MESA, AZ — Downtown Mesa's Main Street is swapping out tenants at a fast clip this fall, and every new sign in a window means a new kitchen and front counter to staff. A former Arizona Rattlers player is turning an old doughnut shop into a burger bar, a live music restaurant has taken over a shuttered brewery, and a Queen Creek bagel shop is heading for a storefront just west of Center Street.
Three Main Street spaces, three new operators, and restaurant jobs from line cook to bartender for anyone who can get to the light rail corridor.

🍔 Randizzle's Burger Bar Brings a Food Truck Indoors
Randy Gatewood played wide receiver and defensive back for the Arizona Rattlers before he started cooking for a living. He launched Randizzle's as a Valley food truck in 2019 known for gourmet burgers and tacos, and signed a lease at the end of September on the corner space at Main and Macdonald that Outcast Doughnuts left behind.
The space came almost fully equipped, so Gatewood aimed to open in October if inspections cooperated. As of this writing we could not confirm a public opening day, so check the restaurant's social accounts before you head over.
The hiring list is long. KTAR reported openings for kitchen managers, shift leaders, line cooks, prep cooks, fry cooks, cashiers, bartenders, dining room attendants, dishwashers, food runners and expediters. Live walk-in interviews were held in late September, and applicants who missed them were told to email a resume to [email protected]. A second location on McDowell Road in Phoenix is targeted for late November or early December, and getting in early is how shift leads become managers.
🎶 Stage 12 West Takes Over the Old Brewery
At the west end of the downtown strip, Stage 12 West opened October 2 in the building 12 West Brewing used to occupy near Country Club Drive. It runs as a restaurant by day and a live music venue at night, with a speakeasy called Jolie's Secret Speakeasy scheduled to open inside on October 9.
No hiring announcement has been made, so treat this one as a watch list item. Venues that pair a kitchen with a stage typically need servers, bartenders, barbacks and line cooks, so get your resume ready and watch for postings.
🥯 A Bagel Shop Is Coming Where Pretzels Used to Be
The Salted Knot served its last pretzel at 21 W. Main St. on October 18. Next in line is Sidewalk Coffee & Bagel Co., owned by Azadeh Purvis, which already runs a shop in Queen Creek. Mesa would be its second Valley location.
Purvis has not set an opening date, and permitting and hiring are both still ahead. Baristas and morning prep cooks should keep it on their radar.
